Five Democratic candidates will not appear on the November ballot in St. Joseph County because required paperwork was not properly filed.

The county Election Board confirmed the candidates failed to qualify. The Republican Party says the deadline for the county Democratic chairman to fill ballot vacancies had also expired in May.

The decision leaves Republican Abby Doyle as the presumptive next St. Joseph County Auditor.

St. Joseph County Republican Party Chair Jackie Horvath criticized Democrats over the filing errors.
