Governor Mike Braun is calling for an investigation into NIPSCO following widespread and prolonged power outages in Northwest Indiana.

Braun has directed the state’s utility consumer watchdog to file a complaint with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. The investigation would examine NIPSCO’s preparation for and response to severe weather that began August 11.

The review would also look at whether NIPSCO properly maintained vegetation and rights-of-way, and whether money approved for infrastructure and reliability improvements was spent as promised.
