A jury has found a man guilty of murdering a sex offender in Elkhart.

Nicholas Stanley was found guilty of shooting and killing Allen Cogswell at the Daylight Inn on Cassopolis Street in June of last year.

Cogswell had just been released from prison after molesting one of Stanley’s relatives.

He entered a conditional plea of guilty to the Firearm Enhancement charge before the jury verdict, which adds up to 20 years to the 65 years he faces at sentencing next month.

Closing arguments wrapped up on Friday, with the jury delivering the guilty verdict just before 12 p.m.
