A bill aimed at improving the detection of human trafficking has cleared the U.S. Senate.
Michigan Congressman Tim Walberg says the Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act passed by unanimous consent after previously clearing the House.
The measure would require Department of Labor employees to receive training on recognizing possible trafficking cases, tracking current trends and referring suspected cases to law enforcement.
Walberg says the goal is earlier intervention to protect potential victims.
