Auburn man sentenced on firearm charge

An Auburn man has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison for illegally possessing firearms.
42-year-old Dustin Hampshire received a 70-month sentence after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. He’ll also serve two years of supervised release.
Police were called about Hampshire’s behavior in a restaurant parking lot and later found three guns in the trunk of the vehicle he was driving, including a short-barrel shotgun.
Court records say Hampshire’s previous felony convictions barred him from having firearms.
