Ordinance to use rainy day funds for Flock cameras fails in Michigan City

A proposal to spend up to $300,000 on Flock Safety cameras in Michigan City is dead after all four council members who sponsored the measure withdrew it Tuesday following pushback from residents.
The ordinance would have used money from the city’s rainy-day fund to expand the Michigan City Police Department’s limited use of the Flock camera system.
The measure never reached a vote. The council tabled the proposal Sep. 15 after hearing from residents on both sides of the issue.
Council members said they wanted more community input and additional information from police before moving forward.
