More Than $370,000 in South Bend school supply funding goes unspent

More than $370,000 set aside for classroom supplies went unused in the South Bend Community School Corporation during the last school year. That’s more than 34-percent of the district’s supply budget.
The District’s Chief Financial Officer tells WNDU the amount is unusually high, especially when some teachers are spending their own money on classroom materials.
He says the district needs to do a better job making educators aware of available funding.
Additional details are expected at the October 19th school board meeting.
