A man has been acquitted of murder in a South Bend shooting that left Carl Bates Junior dead.
Court records show a jury found Riley Morgan-Reed not guilty last week. Police were called to West Dunham Street early March 15th and found Bates with a gunshot wound to the head.
According to charging documents, Morgan-Reed told investigators he feared he was about to be robbed and admitted firing his gun at Bates.
