INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana State Police say they made seven arrests during festivities celebrating the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.

State police said Sunday evening that troopers arrested an Indianapolis man after finding him in a parking lot near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway driving a stolen vehicle with a sleeping woman in the back seat. He faces preliminary charges of kidnapping, vehicle theft and other counts.

In another incident police arrested a North Dakota man who they say didn’t obey a trooper’s command to stop while directing traffic. Police say the motorist drove forward after several commands to stop and eventually struck the trooper with the vehicle’s side mirror. The trooper wasn’t injured.

Five others were arrested, two for battery, two for disorderly conduct and one for underage drinking.
