John Gregg ahead of Governor Pence for quarterly campaign contributions

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Democrat John Gregg has so far outpaced Indiana Gov. Mike Pence in campaign funds raised during the first quarter of this year.

Gregg’s campaign reports nearly $1.87 million since the beginning of 2016 compared to the $1.53 million the Republican has taken in.

The Democratic challenger has received nearly $400,000 from labor organizations and a $200,000 contribution from Chicago entrepreneur Fred Eychaner, bringing his total raised to $5.6 million, according to the campaign.

Pence has so far gained backing from wealthy individual donors as well as a $500,000 from the Republican Governors Association’s Right Direction Political Action Committee. It gave the governor more than $1 million last year.

Overall, Pence has more funds on hand and sits at $7.66 million, which is nearly $2.5 million more than Gregg.
