IKEA to open first Indiana store in Fishers off of I-69

IKEA is coming to Indiana… but not South Bend.

The Swedish furniture store will open a store in Fishers off of I-69 and 116th Street, as reported by the Indianapolis Star.

Construction could begin as early as summer 2016, with a tentative opening date planned for the fall of 2017.

Fishers is located about 21 miles north of Indianapolis and is about 131 miles — or about a 2 ½ hour drive — from South Bend.

IKEA is known for its affordable furniture and in-store restaurants. Other stores in the midwest include locations near Chicago, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Cincinnati, Ohio.
