The man found dead in the Elkhart River on Thursday afternoon, June 2, was identified.

Lyle Burtsfield, 82, was found dead in the Elkhart River along the riverbank near his home in the 15000 block of C.R. 44 at about 2 p.m. Thursday, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department said.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place Friday to determine how Burtsfield died.
