A few hundred Indiana Michigan Power customers lost power Saturday night, April 2, as 60 mph winds blew through the area, but officials say all power should be restored this afternoon.

I&M reported the following outages as of 9:20 a.m. Sunday:

  • St. Joseph County — 175 customers
  • LaPorte County — 141 customers
  • Berrien County, Mich. — 306 customers

Abut 95 percent of customers in the South Bend area should have their power restored by noon, according to I&M spokesman Brian Bergsma. All customers are expected to have power again by 4 p.m.

Customers near Buchanan, Mich., should have power restored by 8 p.m.

At the peak of the outages late Saturday night, more than 17,000 customers in northern Indiana, eastern Indiana and southwestern Michigan were without power.
