Dowagiac airport to build new airport terminal this summer

DOWAGIAC, Mich. (AP) — Construction is expected to start this summer on a new terminal for a southwestern Michigan airport.

Dowagiac City Manager Kevin Anderson tells The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph for a story Sunday that the estimated cost will be between $350,000 and $400,000.

Most of the funding will come from the state Department of Transportation’s Aviation Division.

Anderson says the current terminal at the Dowagiac airport was built in the 1940s and “needs a lot of maintenance.”

He adds that “the roof is in bad shape” and the building is not well-insulated.

Bids for the construction project are expected to go out next month.

Dowagiac is southwest of Grand Rapids.
