Steven Rough, Autumn Mehl drowned, autopsy shows

The two people found dead in a Berrien County creek over the weekend drowned to death, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

Steven Rough and Autumn Mehl were found dead in a car found in a creek on Sunday morning, Feb. 14, after they were reported missing Saturday.

The vehicle was located up side down in the water and the two victims were removed from the vehicle. The family confirmed their identities.

Their causes of death was determined in autopsies performed on Monday, Feb. 15. Toxicology reports are still pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
