Child, 2, taken to hospital with gunshot wound

A 2-year-old child was taken to the hospital after being shot in South Bend.

South Bend Police were called to a home in the 2400 block of East Edison Road in South Bend around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, according to a broadcast on 95.3 MNC by our reporting partners at ABC 57.

Police say the child suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, ABC 57 reported.

There is no information regarding the extent of the injury or the victim’s current medical condition.

Police did not say how the child got ahold of the gun.
