The two people who were found dead in a Coloma, Mich., home on Thursday night, Jan. 14, were identified as the mother and grandfather of the two young girls taken from the home.

 Renee Mitchell, 27, and her father 67-year-old John Mitchell, were found dead in a home in the 6400 block of M-63 by a relative at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday, according to the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office.

A 4-year-old girl and a 3-year-old girl were reported missing after the bodies were discovered, but they were later found safe in a vehicle driven by their father, 24-year-old Alex Perez, in Georgetown, Colo. at about 1 a.m. local time Friday, Jan. 15, Michigan State Police said.

Perez is suspected of killing Renee and John Mitchell between 7 and 10 p.m. Wednesday night, Jan. 13, and kidnapping the two girls. He was charged Friday with two counts of first degree murder in Berrien County, where he will be extradited for court proceedings.

If convicted, Perez could be sentenced to life without parole.
