One of two men accused of holding a woman in the basement of a South Bend home will spend up to 14 months in prison after he agreed to a plea deal.

Shawn Galloway, 32, was sentenced to 30 months in prison and a year of probation during a hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 13, according to online court documents. Twelve months of the prison sentence were suspended and Galloway was given credit for an additional four months that he has already served in St. Joseph County Jail.

Galloway pleaded guilty to battery, a level 6 felony, and the charge of criminal confinement causing bodily injury was dropped.

Galloway was arrested after his girlfriend escaped from the home in September. She told police Galloway and his father, Christopher Galloway, tied her up and kept her in the basement of their home for two days and beat her. She said she wasn’t given food or water for at least two days.

Christopher Galloway is expected to face trial in February.
