Voicemail threatening mass murder at Lerner Theatre under investigation

Police in Elkhart are investigating a threatening phone message left on the voicemail at the Lerner Theatre.

An employee was checking voice messages on Monday morning, Aug. 31, and heard a message threatening violence, according to a news release from the Elkhart Police Department.

The message, left by a male suspect, indicated there would be a mass murder at the next concert held at the Lerner Theatre, according to the news release.

The next concert scheduled at the theatre is Saturday night, Sept. 12.

Detectives have identified a suspect. The police department has also increased their patrols in and around the Lerner Theatre.
