Gas prices to likely drop up to 50 cents over next two weeks, Gas Buddy says

Weeks after a huge spike, gas prices are expected to drop by up to 50 cents in the next two weeks.

The BP oil refinery in Whiting safely restarted operations, which analysts at GasBuddy believe will result in a steep drop in gas prices, according to a news release from the company.

Gas prices could fall anywhere from 20 to 50 cents a gallon over the next two weeks, according to the news release.

Prices rose by more than 60 cents within days of an announcement that the Whiting refinery was partially shut down for repair work.

The cost for a gallon of gas is expected to decrease further through the fall and winter, especially as refineries switch to the cheaper winter blend.
