SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — A war veteran has testified that a 2012 explosion that heavily damaged an Indianapolis neighborhood and killed two people caused a flashback to his time in Afghanistan.

Walter Colbert told jurors Wednesday that the blast left him uncertain of where he was until he saw his son. Other witnesses said they thought it was snowing because insulation was raining down.

About 175 witnesses are expected to testify at the trial of 46-year-old Mark Leonard. He faces murder, arson and other charges in the explosion that killed a couple next door to the house that exploded.

One female juror has been excused for what St. Joseph Superior Court Judge John Marnocha described as a family tragedy. The jury now has five alternates.
