Niles Community Schools on lockdown as police execute search warrant nearby

Niles Community Schools are on lockdown Thursday afternoon, April 30, as police and SWAT believe a wanted felon is in a home on Ninth Street, as reported by WSBT.

Students were released to school buses and to their parents, WNDU reported. Students who walk home will be held at the school until police give the all-clear or until their parents pick them up.

Police believe Michael Exom III is armed and inside a home on Ninth Street between Ferry and Sycamore, WSBT reported. The area has been blocked off and police say neighbors should stay inside their homes. Exom is wanted in the March shooting of a 24-year-old woman in Niles.
