Public comment sought on Michigan wildlife management plan

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — State regulators are inviting the public to comment on a proposed five-year plan for wildlife management in Michigan.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has put together the final draft of a plan that sets principles to guide the Wildlife Division’s work and strategies for reaching its goals.

It’s also designed to help set priorities for wildlife management and coordination of conservation efforts with partners.

Among issues it identifies are population and habitat management, land use and economic development, access to land for wildlife recreation and funding.

The draft updated plan is posted online

Comments can be sent to the DNR no later than Jan. 22.
