ALLEGAN, Mich. (AP) — An Allegan couple has opened a bookstore focusing on books about Michigan.
The Kalamazoo Gazette reports that authors Larry and Priscilla Massie opened Massie’s Michigan Books this summer. It’s in an addition to their house, which is an 1880 schoolhouse.
Massie has collected the books the past 40 years and says he’s now ready to start selling them. His store is open by appointment only.
The 5,000 books include county histories, novels, cookbooks and poetry, with topics that involve American Indians, copper mining and Michigan’s involvement in wars.
