KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — A southwestern Michigan prosecutor says the police shooting of two heavily armed brothers was justified and the officers involved won’t be charged.

Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeffrey Getting told reporters Friday the six officers were involved in a roughly 20-mile chase of Sean and Aaron Pelletier in May and “were met with defiance.” The Pelletiers were armed in a car and refused to stop.

Sean Pelletier was killed and Aaron Pelletier was seriously wounded. No officers were hurt.

Authorities say Sean Pelletier was wanted on a trespassing warrant and had used guns to threaten people at the Portage home belonging to his mother.

Two sisters of the Pelletiers were arrested that month after a police standoff. One was found guilty of resisting and obstructing police and another awaits trial.
