MILAN, Mich. (AP) — More than 200 marijuana plants have been uprooted in Monroe County after a search by police from the sky.

The Monroe News says helicopters from the state police and U.S. Coast Guard were used for an aerial view of the county in southeastern Michigan.

Lt. Marc Moore of a regional anti-drug team says most offenders are people who are abusing the state’s medical marijuana law. Plants were found in recent days in Milan, London, Summerfield and Monroe townships.

Moore says growers try to conceal the marijuana by growing it near trees or corn.
