CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Police say officers stopped a Saginaw County man who had a woman tied up in his car after a meeting set up through Craigslist.

Michigan State Police Lt. David Kaiser says troopers pulled over the 41-year-old Chesaning man early Wednesday morning in Shiawassee County for suspicion of drunken driving. He says troopers heard a woman calling for help as they approached his car.

According to Kaiser, troopers found a 22-year-old Okemos woman in the front passenger seat with a bag over her head, tape over her mouth and hands tied behind her back. Police say she wasn’t hurt.

Kaiser says the man used a fake name, pictures and email address in the Craigslist post, and the woman tried to end the date.

The man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and assault by strangulation.
