A firefighter was taken to the hospital after helping fight the fire at Cana Cabinetry on Phillips Street in Elkhart County.

The blaze broke out around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, inside Plant 1 on the property, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The building was fully engulfed in flames as crews from more than a dozen departments fought back in the snow and cold.

A second firefighter reportedly suffered from frostbite, WNDU reported.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing fire crews taking water from the hydrant at Elkhart Memorial High School to help douse the flames.

Traffic was blocked on County Road 3 as a result.

So far, there is no word on the cause.
