No injuries in weekend fires in Elkhart County

No injuries were reported in two separate fires Sunday, March 22, in Elkhart County.

The first was a structure fire just after 1 p.m. at the 1000 block of West Van Buren Street, according to 95.3 MNC’s news partner, The Elkhart Truth.

The Nappanee Fire Department cleared the scene as of 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Elkhart County emergency dispatchers confirmed.

Shortly thereafter, a large brush fire was reported at 1:08 p.m. at the 65000 block of C.R. 21, The Elkhart Truth reports. Elkhart and Harrison townships were both at the fire, which dispatchers said was about two acres.

Though dispatchers could not confirm if the area was residential, they said the fire was near a church.

As of 2 p.m., units were off scene and no injuries were reported, according to The Elkhart Truth.
