Bendix Drive gas station shooting suspect arrested

SOUTH BEND — A suspect in the deadly shooting of a 52-year-old man on Tuesday night, March 24, was arrested Wednesday.

Emmett Calvin White, 58, faces a preliminary charge of murder, according to a news release from the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office. He will be booked at the St. Joseph County jail Wednesday afternoon.

Gary Gray, 52, was shot shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Always Open gas station at 1401 N. Bendix Drive, according to the prosecutor’s office. He was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after.

An autopsy for Gray was scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday.
