14 year-old Elkhart boy killed in shooting Tuesday

A 14 year-old Elkhart boy has been identified as the victim in a shooting.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Harrison Street just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners The Elkhart Truth.

Once on scene, police found Dezjaun Sanders with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at Elkhart General Hospital.

Officers and detectives immediately started an investigation by collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.

At this point in the investigation it appears there was an argument that escalated to the point where one person shot Sanders, according to an Elkhart Police Department news release.
