Iowa-based Winnebago Industries announced plans Tuesday, May 5, to expand its Elkhart County facilities, creating up to 150 new jobs by 2019.

The plans includes spending nearly $5.5 million to purchase four facilities in Middlebury, according to a news release from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. The company plans to grow production at the facilities and, in doing so, invest nearly $250,000 in equipment over the next few years to meet growing demand.

Once the new center is fully operational, Winnebago will employ about 280 people in Indiana.

The IEDC offered Winnebago nearly $2 million in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans, according to the news release. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim the incentives.
