One killed, another injured in early morning crash on Old U.S. 33 in Elkhart County

A 54-year-old Elkhart man was killed and another person was injured in a crash Monday morning, May 18. 

Charles Seabolt died following a crash that happened just after 6:30 a.m. in the 30000 block of old U.S. 33, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of a Scion coupe was driving eastbound on Old U.S. 33 and attempted to pass slowed traffic by driving on the gravel shoulder of the road, according to the news release. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center lane and struck a Ford pickup truck driven west by Seabolt. The truck rolled several times.

A 25-year-old Osceola man, who was a passenger in the pickup truck, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital, according to the news release.
