Elkhart City Council approves new body cameras for Elkhart Police

The Elkhart Police Department will be getting more body cameras for its officers.

The Elkhart City Council approved a scaled-back plan on Monday to equip the police force with the devices, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

Instead of the $349,000 plan proposed by Mayor Dick Moore, the council approved a $100,000 proposal that calls for 80 new body cameras,

The amended plan does not include new dashboard cameras for squad cars.
