A 24-year-old South Bend man suspected in the death of 22-year-old Alma Del Real pleaded not guilty to the charge against him during his first court hearing on Tuesday, May 26.
Alberto Cruz was charged with murder Friday, May 22, after he led authorities to Del Real’s body in Marshall County on Wednesday, May 20, and confessed to killing her, according to court documents.
Cruz has been held at the St. Joseph County Jail without bond since his arrest on Wednesday. His next court hearing is set for June 8.
