An Amish woman and her three small children, including a newborn infant, suffered minor injuries after their buggy was hit by a pickup truck in Kosciusko County early Wednesday morning.

The truck hit the buggy from behind while they were heading west on C.R. 1350 North near C.R. 300 West near Milford, according to Sgt. Chad Hill with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

A 29-year-old woman was operating the buggy at the time of the crash. She and her children — ages 4 and 2 and a newborn infant — were taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital for minor injuries, Hill said. The horse also suffered minor injuries.

The pickup truck was driven by a 25-year-old Bremen man. The man told police that he was distracted and didn’t see the buggy until the last minute, Hill said.
