The $9 billion man? Donald Trump is running for president in 2016

WASHINGTON (AP) — With a presidential field approaching 20 high-profile Republicans, the GOP’s 2016 class offers voters a little bit of everything.

There are the top-tier candidates, the single-issue candidates and even the quixotic dreamers.

And then there’s Donald Trump.

The Donald, as he’s commonly known as a celebrity, announced his 2016 intentions on Tuesday at a Manhattan skyscraper that bears his name.

“I’m really rich…that’s the kind of thinking you need for this country,” he said during the announcement. “It sounds crass, it’s not crass.”

Trump shared details about his personal finances that reveal a net worth of $9 billion.

The financial disclosure was thought to be the final obstacle blocking Trump from launching a 2016 bid.
