Tyron Johnson, suspected in deadly Mishawaka shooting, arrested Tuesday morning

An 18-year-old man police believe shot and killed the mother of his 1-month-old child in Mishawaka last week was arrested in South Bend on Tuesday morning.

Tyron Johnson, 18, is suspected of fatally shooting 22-year-old Precious Jackson Friday morning, June 12, near Sixth and Logan streets in Mishawaka. Jackson’s two toddlers, who witnessed the shooting, were found wandering in the street nearby when police arrived.

Johnson was arrested Tuesday morning at the Miami Hills Apartment Complex in South Bend, according to Jessica McBrier, a spokeswoman for the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Johnson was charged with murder on Saturday, June 13, and ordered held without bond at the St. Joseph County Jail. McBrier said that Johnson is expected to be booked into the jail Tuesday afternoon.
