Elkhart man files grievance over theater's disabled parking

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) — A man unhappy with the placement of parking spots for the disabled outside an Elkhart theater has filed an Americans with Disabilities Act grievance against the city.

Richard Wolf uses a cane and relies on portable oxygen. The Elkhart man filed his grievance after he complained to city officials that the Lerner Theatre had inadequate parking for the disabled.

The city rejected his complaint, but Wolf appealed and he’s determined to get parking closer to the northern Indiana theater.

Wolf tells The Elkhart Truth the block from the parking spaces to the theater is too far for the disabled, who must walk up an incline to reach the theater.

Lerner Theatre general manager David Smith says venue staffers work hard to do everything they can to accommodate guests.
