Portage resident arrested on child pornography charges

On April 25, 2024, members of the Indiana State Police Crimes Against Children Unit arrested Dylan Cannell, 26, of Portage, on two felony charges.
Cannell was taken into custody at his residence after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The warrant and arrest were the result of an investigation which was initiated when investigators with the Indiana State Police received a Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the activities on a Kik Messenger chat app account.
Cannell was transported to Porter County Jail where he awaits an initial court appearance.
Cannell has been charged with the following offenses:
Child Exploitation-Possession of Child Pornography Under the Age of 12- Level 5 Felony
Child Exploitation-Possession of Child Pornography- Level 6 Felony
