Stueben County man pleads guilty in sister's stabbing death

ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) — A 49-year-old Stueben County man has pleaded guilty to murder in the January stabbing of his 52-year-old sister.

Jeffrey Peppler pleaded guilty Friday in the death of Paige Peppler as part of a plea agreement that calls for an attempted murder charge against him in the stabbing of his 72-year-old mother be dismissed.

Peppler faces between 45 to 60 years in prison when he is sentenced on Aug. 28 by Steuben Superior Judge William Fee.

A telephone call to dispatchers began with Paige Peppler saying her brother had been drinking and was battering their mother. She then said her brother was coming after her before her mother began speaking to dispatchers.
