Kelly says RB Bryant won't play for Notre Dame in 2015

=SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly has announced running back Greg Bryant will not play for the Irish this season, saying he failed to meet expectations.

Kelly previously had suspended Bryant for the first four games of this season for violating team rules. Kelly said Tuesday Bryant is permitted to practice, but will not occupy a spot on the 105-man roster. Bryant, who is from Delray Beach, Florida, was second on the team in rushing last season with 289 yards on 54 carries, a 5.4 yards per carry average that led the Irish. Tarean Folston led the team with 889 yards rushing on 175 carries.

Kelly announced linebacker Michael Deeb and tight end Mike Heuerman have been medically disqualified to play this season but remain on scholarship. Practice starts Friday.
