Teenage boy struck, killed by train in Kosciusko County on Thursday morning

A 17-year-old Syracuse boy was killed when he was hit by a train near Warner and Cornelius roads east of Syracuse on Thursday morning, Aug. 6.

Christopher David Prater was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sgt. Chad Hill with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

Prater was hit by a westbound train at about 7:09 a.m., Hill said.

The crash is still under investigation.
