Nappanee man injured after crashing paraglider into cornfield

A Nappanee man was taken to the hospital after crashing a paraglider into a cornfield in Nappanee.

Officers from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area west of the 71000 block of County Road 9 in Nappanee around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7.

The 29 year-old pilot was found approximately 100 yards inside of the cornfield, according to Capt. James Bradberry with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

He was flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of back injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
