EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State University is getting an $800,000 federal grant to study the impact of manufactured chemicals on ecosystems.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the grant Tuesday. The agency said in a news release that Michigan State would use the grant to study neurological function in fish and the effects of chemicals.

The grant is part of the agency’s Chemical Safety for Sustainability research program. Other schools that have received a similar grant to study chemical exposure in the environment include Harvard University, Oregon State University and Texas Tech University.
