Elderly woman hurt when small airplane crashes in LaGrange County

WOLCOTTVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a woman suffered minor injuries when the airplane she was riding in crashed in LaGrange County.

The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department says an elderly female passenger on the plane was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police did not release her name.

The single-engine, two-seat airplane crashed into a soybean field about 8:30 p.m. Saturday west of Wolcottville, or about 35 miles northeast of Fort Wayne.

Police say Wes Ortell of Wolcottville was piloting the plane. He complained of neck pain, but medics released him at the scene.
