Retired Ohio police officer sentenced in child pornography case

DETROIT (AP) — A former southwest Ohio police officer who was arrested in Michigan on child pornography charges while entering the United States from Canada has been sentenced to five years in prison.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says in a statement that 62-year-old Robert Glassmeyer learned his punishment on Thursday. Records say he pleaded guilty in February in federal court in Detroit to transportation of child pornography.

The Associated Press left a message Friday seeking comment from his lawyer.

Glassmeyer was arrested in June 2014 at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, Michigan, after returning from Ontario. Authorities say a routine inspection found screenshot images of child pornography on a video camera in Glassmeyer’s possession.

ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations handled the case.
