Mike Pence headed to Japan next month seeking jobs for Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Gov. Mike Pence will lead a delegation of Indiana business leaders to Japan next month on an economic development mission.

Pence announced Wednesday he will leave Indiana on Sept. 11, making stops in Tokyo, Kyoto and Nagoya before returning on Sept. 18. He plans to attend the Japan-U.S. Midwest Conference, meet with business executives and government leaders and host an economic development reception. He also plans to meet with Japanese companies with Indiana operations, including Honda, Mitsubishi, Toyota and Subaru.

Pence previously went on a jobs mission in Japan in 2013.

The governor’s office says the cost of the state delegation is being covered through private donations to the Indiana Economic Development Foundation.
