Michiana's Menu: Marshall County Blueberry Festival, DIY PSL and more

WISH SUMMER FAREWELL AT MARSHALL COUNTY BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL

Blueberries, please don’t go! We’ll eat you up, we love you so.

The Marshall County Blueberry Festival returns Sept. 4-7 to Plymouth with blueberry ice cream, beloved blueberry doughnuts and more sweet treats, according to 95.3 MNC’s partners at Flavor 574.

It’s free to get into the festival — you just pay to park and to eat.

ASK A FOODIE: WHERE TO FIND NITRO COFFEE IN MICHIANA

Nitro coffee isn’t so much an afternoon pick-me-up as it is a punch to the mouth.

It’s the latest trend to arrive on the food scene and it’s available at just a few places in Michiana. Nitro coffee is a type of cold-brew that’s steeped, infused with nitrogen then tapped from a keg, Flavor 574 reports. It’s got a creamy, foamy head like a stout beer and is a little sweeter than a cup of black coffee.

You can try a cup at DIY Coffee and Ale Supply, 114 E. Washington St., Goshen; Three Crowns Coffee, 114 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw; Crooked Ewe Brewery & Ale House, 1047 Lincoln Way E., South Bend.

MAKE YOUR OWN PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE ON THE CHEAP

Pumpkin Spice Latte fans, rejoice — your time of year is just about here.

The seasonal drink is set to drop Sept. 8, according to previous Flavor 574 reporting, but it’s actually easy to make at home and you could save a pretty pile of cash doing so.

If you do the math, one 12 oz. Starbucks PSL per week for October and November is about $40. That’s 10 drinks assuming you get the smallest size each time. But making your own at home is easy and can cost you less than $1 per drink.

For the recipe, see the full story on Flavor 574.
