Infant killed, five people injured in crash on U.S. 31 Wednesday afternoon

A 10-month-old boy was killed in a crash involving two vehicles on U.S. 31 in Berrien County on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 16.

Jamando Guidry was airlifted to a hospital in Kalamazoo, where he later died, according to a news release from the Michigan State Police.

Jamando was one of four passengers in a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old woman that was stopped in the left lane of the U.S. 31 Bypass after the vehicle ran over a plastic bucket at about 4 p.m. Wednesday. While that vehicle was stopped, a second vehicle driven by a 19-year-old woman crashed into the back of the first vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle and one of her passengers was hospitalized with serious injuries, while the other two passengers were hospitalized with moderate injuries, according to the news release.

The driver of the second vehicle had minor injuries.
